In addition to the resolution of the spectrometer detector, an important factor to consider, the size of the active area and the count rate are also important. In practical applications, the energy detection range, resolution, effective active area of the detector, corresponding linear range, and beryllium window thickness are important factors to consider when selecting a detector.

In fact, the three factors of resolution, effective active area, and linear corresponding range are just mutually restricted. The preamp noise is mainly determined by the pulse shaping time constant, and the relationship between the energy resolution and the pulse shaping time constant shows a minimum value. The curve distribution, so sometimes a slightly larger pulse forming time constant is appropriately selected, which can have higher energy resolution, but the linear analysis range may be affected. When a narrow pulse width is required to maintain high count rate blood, a detector with a smaller pulse shaping time constant can be selected.
